5 Days Off : Holland

Manuel Tur is set to unveil his debut album later this year.

When thinking about house music, the German city of Essen isn't exactly the first place that springs to mind. However, it's Essen that has birthed the young talent of Tur, who was just 16 years of age when he released his first twelve-inch back in 2002. As a mark of dedication to his home city, Tur has named his first full-length 0201, which is the area code of Essen. Those expecting a collection of dance floor-geared house tracks akin to his recent solo singles may be surprised to know that Tur has produced the album with home-listening in mind, with downtempo and abstract cuts sitting alongside broken beat-infused deep house and filtered French disco.

Speaking about the album, Tur states that it was "made up from samples that I've been collecting for almost 10 years now and that I've put together like a jigsaw or 'patchwork,' as is the title of the first track." There are even a smattering of vocals spread throughout, with Alexander East lending his soulful voice to forthcoming single "Will Be Mine," and Shaboom boss Mark "Blakkat" Bell (whom Tur cites as one of his major influences) taking mic duties on "Golden Complexion."

Tracklist
01. Patchworks
02. Stay feat. Lariassa Kapp
03. Rubicond
04. Golden Complexion feat. Blakkat
05. Such A Dream
06. Fade And Away
07. Passtelise
08. Shady Trees
09. Will Be Mine feat. Alexander East
10. A40
11. On the Radio
12. Radial
13. Final Layer

Freerange Records will release 0201 on June 22nd, 2009.comment 11 Comments
