UNsound - NYC

Warp Records will continue its 20th anniversary celebrations with the release in September of Warp20 (Box Set).

The package is set to contain a double CD album featuring the best of Warp (one disc of which was chosen by fans), a bound book that has the artwork of every Warp release from its inception up until August 2009, another double CD set that has 20 unreleased covers of Warp songs by Warp artists past and present, yet another CD that contains an hour-long piece by Osymyso that slices and dices sections, samples and fragments of Warp history, a triple 10-inch set that collects unheard tracks from the Warp vaults and (finally) a double 10-inch collection of locked-groove loops from Warp tracks. Phew. It's a lot, we know, but if Warp is known for anything, it's celebrating its history in style.

While the tracklistings for these compilations aren't available quite yet, the folks at Warp know that you trust them, so the collection is now available for pre-order bleep.com. Orders received before 5th July will receive a discount of up to 15%, and they'll all be shipped by September 25th.comment 15 Comments

Tue, 07 Jul 2009The as chosen by fans selections - which are pretty indicative of how much the average person differs from my own taste - are mostly redeemed by the rest of the box sets inclusions. Still I don't really know why they allowed part of this monumental release (or so they would have it) to go to 'the fans'. There are so many great older tracks that these 'fans' obviously were too young to have had the chance to hear. Where's anything off of Tri Repetae, Amber, Stay Down, Hard Normal Daddy or the... More

Sat, 04 Jul 2009For me, the first disc was incredibly disappointing. Where are things like Broadcast's 'Come On Let's Go,' or anything off the fantastic The Other People Place record? Far too many obvious selections, and there could have been better picks from the Warp big guns as well. Still, looks like the rest of the package will make up for that.

The first disc was voted by fans (Unfortunately I didn't knew anything about it till it was over) and Broadcast's come on let's go almost made it at #17.... More

Fri, 03 Jul 2009Ordered mine, and I'm really looking forward to getting hold of those endless loops.
The Osymyso edit should be pretty sweet as well I think.

Fri, 03 Jul 2009I wouldn't mind dropping the big buck for a vinyl version of these ones. Hope they do release them on vinyl, it's sad enough for me that Flying Lotus - Tea Leaf Dancers didn't made it to the tracklist.
