Tigersushi boss Joakim has announced details of Milky Ways , his third studio album.
Prepare to be surprised, though: If the press surrounding Milky Ways , the third LP proper from French producer Joakim is to be believed, the new album will be a total departure from the fuzzy disco of 2007's Monsters & Silly Songs . Inspiration is said to have been derived through extensive touring around the period of that last record, as Joakim and his group (formerly known as the Ectoplasmic Band) honed their skills on the road. The resulting album takes in moments of "psychedelia, old-school computer music, exotica, electro-pop, blues, new wave, New Pop, Krautrock," in ten tracks and 51 minutes. The release marks something of a resurfacing for Joakim who, after a sustained period of prominence in and around 2007/2008 through a flurry of remix work, had been relatively quiet of late.
