Brock Van Wey (AKA Bvdub) will release his latest album on the Echospace imprint later this month.

The San Franciscan producer has already made appearances on some of the biggest dub techno labels around, including Styrax, Meanwhile and Millions Of Moments, but now he's been picked up by Stephen Hitchell (who goes under a variety of names from Intrusion through to Variant) to release on the Detroit label. Van Wey is actually the first non-Echospace related artist to release new material on the label, and the tracks on White Clouds Drift On And On actually impressed Hitchell so much, that he decided to fashion six of his own Intrusion interpretations to include as a bonus disc.

Interestingly enough, Hitchell has decided to reverse Van Wey's running order on his disc, meaning that listeners sitting down to take in both CDs at once get an almost elliptical listening experience. Fans of previous Bvdub releases will know to expect more of Van Wey's stretched out blissful dubbiness with touches of ambient experimentalism, whilst you can be sure that Hitchell will be showing off his deft delay skills on the second CD.

Tracklist
CD1:
01. Too Little Too Late
02. I Knew Happiness Once
03. Forever A Stanger
04. A Gentle Hand To Hold
05. A Chance To Start Over
06. White Clouds Drift On And On

CD2:
01. White Clouds Drift On And On (Intrusion Shape I)
02. A Chance To Start Over (Intrusion Shape II)
03. A Gentle Hand To Hold (Intrusion Shape III)
04. Forever A Stanger (Intrusion Shape IV)
05. I Knew Happiness Once (Intrusion Shape V)
06. Too Little Too Late (Intrusion Shape VI)

Echospace will release White Clouds Drift On And On on June 23rd, 2009.comment 35 Comments

Wed, 04 Nov 2009This is very good, though I really can't help but skip some tracks onto which these ethno vocals samples have been filled in. This wasn't necessary at all, the tracks are perfect without those vocals really...

Wed, 07 Oct 2009I much prefer the originals although I do appreciate the Intrusion dubs. I feel they dont add anything to the first disc although on their own they would be a great set in their own right.

Not sure what all this elevator music business is about though since quite a fair bit of modern techno is elevator music in my opinion (or maybe that should read clothing store, tv background music etc). The brilliance of Brock's originals are the emotion and the slow drift that changes them into something... More

feels like it's not going to be the most popular opinion here but frankly I liked only intrusion stuff - CD1 sounded to me a bit boring, boneless and repetitive. but intrusion stuff is really great, deep, complex and clever, as always

the originals are nice sometimes, but somehow too fluffy or something for me to return to frequently. the Intrusion mixes are an ambient classic, IMO worth the price of admission themselves. i... More

Tue, 06 Oct 2009I'm glad cjaxx mentioned the 'borderline elevator music feel' to a few of the Intrusion dubs, as I almost included a line about that in the review, but decided not to. I think the second disc is solid and everything, but you can almost take gorelin's opinion above and flip it for me... I only put the first disc on my iPod now that I've reviewed this, for example. And I love the children chanting on 'I Knew Happiness Once'! The first few times I found them too loud and too distracting, but now... More
