Decibel announce preliminary line-up

Monolake, Alex Under, Martyn and the Wighnomy Brothers will all play the '09 edition of the Seattle festival this September.

Seattle's Decibel Festival have announced the initial line-up for their sixth annual event, which will take place in late September.

The festival, which goes under the full title of the Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music, Visual Art and New Media, is a non-profit four-day event which aims to showcase innovations in the electronic side of both visual and musical art. As with contemporaries like Canada's Mutek, the festival will see electronic music performances backed up with workshops and panel discussions, and it seems like the organisers have gone all out this year to try and further establish Decibel on the international circuit.

Only a snapshot of the full line-up has been released, but it seems like there'll be a wide range of acts on offer, from the cerebral minimal techno of Monolake, through to the jacking maximalism of Alter Ego. Dubstep will get more of a representation this year, although even within that sphere there are a diverse selection of artists, with the electronica-tinged sounds of Boxcutter coming face-to-face with Martyn's deepness, and Caspa and Benga's more full-throttle style. And speaking of full-throttle, Andrew Weatherall will fly over to play an undoubtedly dance floor focused set, whilst Move D, Bruno Pronsato, Alex Under, Tadeo and the Wighnomy Brothers will provide US audiences with an insight into current European house and techno sounds.

There'll also be plenty of American artists laying down performances, of course, with Daedelus, Voodeux, Lusine, Nosaj Thing, Pezzner, Mountains and KiloWatts all set to appear. Organisers have also decided to factor the current economic climate with their ticketing procedure, and are offering a limited number of discounted passes up until July 24th. comment 26 Comments

that all makes some good sense. thats too bad, as its not often they get to play over here and it sounds like they could have had a chance for 3+ banger.
cheers.

No reports on Wighnomy Brothers?? Did they attend?

My feelings on their set:

Most of us are accustomed to hearing 3+ hour-long Wighnomy Bros. sets. Their performance was good. As always, they went in several different directions, mixing up many genres and styles, but it felt a bit rushed-like they had to cram everything they do into 1 1/2 hours. A longer Wighnomy Bros. set would have been nice, especially since Alex Under never made it into the U.S. (instead Frank... More
