Radio Slave remixes DJ Hell and P Diddy

Matt Edwards has decided to take Diddy's advice about "twenty minute versions," with his remix clocking in at a staggering 28 minutes.

The next single from DJ Hell's Teufelswerk album will be "The DJ," his collaboration with P. Diddy.

On the original mix, Diddy's spoken vocal is cut and filtered, but you can hear him ranting about him having love for "the motherf**kers that like them twenty minute versions," and "the DJ's that ain't afraid to play those twenty minute versions - the DJ's that got patience." When asked about Diddy's vocal, and if he gave him any direction, Hell was quick to retort that, "he says what he wants."

Matt Edwards is certainly no stranger to remixes with epic durations, but it seems as if he's taken Diddy's advice on board with his latest Radio Slave re-rub, which clocks in at an almighty 28 minutes. Speaking about the remix, Edwards has told us that, "I'm down with the 20 minute versions! I listen to a lot of Klaus Schulze, love the new Moritz Von Oswald LP and am very partial to Ricardo's work like his Minimoonstar piece. I'm also into DJ's playing the whole record! Most producers still make records with a start and an end, so yeah... Let the music play!"

The mix was a concerted effort to test the limits of the remix, with Edwards stating that he, "actually wanted to do a 60 minute version and my friend Tom Gandey (Cagedbaby) recorded a lot of piano parts in Bordeaux which I used in the last 10 minutes, so I guess I just let the track do its thing. I played about 25 minutes at Fabric last Saturday and it definitely wasn't boring!"

The mix will be split over two sides of the vinyl, with Deetron, Paul Woolford and Jay Haze providing additional mixes for a second twelve-inch. Deetron's is a slow builder with an epic breakdown ("probably my longest," he suggests), Woolford has gone for a "raw and grinding" version, while Haze's is "really reminiscent of the early Music For Freaks material."

International Deejay Gigolo Records will release "The DJ" Remixes in August.

Thu, 24 Sep 2009The Radio Slave remixes are crap, so boring man. I actually have a lot of time for Radio Slave but this is pish.

Funnily enough the Paul Woolford effort really surprised me.

Thu, 24 Sep 2009pure crap
and a 28 min long remix is just plain pretentious when the original is so thin

Mon, 21 Sep 2009He stole the bass line too... Sandee - Notice me.. (todd terry mixes) www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-AJQKbztTs and who cares who did those vocals... its wack anyway. Just some name dropping.. but at the end its all shit. Hell is nothing but a poser!

Sun, 20 Sep 2009DJ Hell jacked this from Felix & Diddys original acapella recorded in 2003. The original is here at Felix Da Housecat's blog (www.boppernation.com) Felix is furious, DJ Hell completely stole this...pretty certain Diddy didn't give Hell permission either.

Fri, 21 Aug 2009been playing this one for a while now, Radio Slave's remix is sick!

b-ran, its not repetitive at all, its fresh and Matt keeps it interesting!

Highly recommended track!

Thu, 20 Aug 2009why? you like listening to the same loop for 60 minutes? thats like a punishment.

im sure this wont be to die for, considering so many of radio slave's 'tracks' are just a well-produced loop...they're useful but boring as hell..
