- The stalwart Detroit artist will release both Journey Into the Riddum and Does Not Compute later this month.
Scott Grooves is set to release two mix CDs on his own labels later this month.
The Detroit-based DJ and producer has been steadily releasing his own house and techno tracks on labels like KMS, Soma, Spiritual Life and Clone for the last fifteen years, and he's now decided that the time is right to summarise his career so far with two separate mix CDs. Both of them will be released on his own labels, with one imprint to be founded especially for the project. Over the last decade, Grooves (real name Patrick Scott) has followed in the footsteps of fellow Detroit producers like Theo Parrish and Omar-S, adopting a more DIY ethic and self-releasing most of his new material. Natural MIDI has been the most active of these labels, and it's on this imprint that he'll release Does Not Compute, which will summarise Scott's tracks that have an "edgier analogue sound," including cuts like "Only 500," "Classic 909" and "Patience."
Modified Suede is the name of Scott's new label, and this is the one that will house his Journey Into The Riddum CD, which showcases the producer's more organic and soulful side. This particular mix digs a little deeper into Scott's older material, pairing up older cuts like "Moog Sensation" and "Organ Nights" with more recent Natural MIDI offerings. Both CDs will be mixed by Scott himself, with Does Not Compute featuring a snippet from a Derrick May interview riding over the last track.
