- Macro have now revealed full details of Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarras' lost Catholic album.
Macro Recordings have just revealed the full details of Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarras' Catholic album.
As we exclusively announced last month, label owners Stefan Goldmann and Finn Johannsen have been steadily working with Socarras to restore the original master tapes from their collaboration, and finally release recordings that were originally thought to have been totally lost. In our previous interview with Goldmann, he revealed that the record, "will be a shock for Patrick Cowley's fans. It's way beyond his Hi NRG Disco stuff - a post-punk, new wave, experimental Cowley. The range of styles is pretty wide, but it totally makes sense. There are very sparse, almost Basic Channel style tracks with stripped down electronic percussion grooves. Then there are some tracks that sound like the blueprint to Metro Area. And then there is stuff that sounds like punk with sequencer bass lines. It's all still very synthesizer-based, yet very adventurous."
The sparse and spaced-out avant-pop of "Soon" will be the first single to be released from the album on September 7th, and will be accompanied by remixes from both Morgan Geist and KiNK as well as "Robot Children," a claustrophobic yet tongue-in-cheek track with electronic production that belies the year that it was produced. The full album will hit the shops the following month in both CD and double LP flavours.
