The Sheffield label's 20th anniversary celebrations will arrive in NYC this September, with performances from Hudson Mohawke, !!! and Battles.
Warp Records have announced details of the New York leg of their 20th anniversary celebrations, which takes place over the first weekend of September.
As well as releasing that gargantuan box set, Warp have planned special dates in New York as well as London, Tokyo and Sheffield in order to celebrate twenty years of dealings in the record industry. Warp certainly aren't ones to do things by halves, and this is definitely the case with their weekender, which kicks off at the city's Terminal 5 venue on Friday September 4th. The first party has a general focus on the label's live acts, with dance-friendly math rockers Battles accompanying both Prefuse 73 and Pivot, and New York's own energetic punk-funkers !!! bringing up the rear.
The following evening, Warp will host a free outdoor show in the Winter Gardens of the World Financial Center. A full line-up for this particular event is yet to be announced, but we can inform you that both Clark and Hudson Mohawke will definitely be there to throw down some forward thinking techno, dubstep and hip-hop. Those who fancy sampling some of the visual art that Warp has become famed for over the years are also in luck, as you can always head to the New Museum during September 3-6 to watch selected Warp videos and some of their short films for absolutely nothing.
