  • Berlin's Tape venue have announced details surrounding the opening of their new garden space, and have also decided to shift their key nights to Saturdays. For the last two years, Berlin nightspot Tape have traded off a reputation for quality house music and Friday night parties. Residencies for the likes of Drumpoet Community, Horse Meat Disco and Oslo Records have cemented a healthy reputation for the Heidestrasse venue, but manager Jonathan Margulies now feels that it's time to shake things up. "Saturdays offer more of an opportunity to connect with visiting artists," said Margulies on the shift. "They're not in a rush to get on a plane for the next gig, and Fridays felt as though some of the boys were holding a bit back sometimes." The venue are also reportedly looking to extend their new opening hours, providing an opportunity to tap into the city's buzzing Sunday clubbing market. Speaking of which, Tape have also announced the opening of their new "garden" space, situated at the rear of the venue. From the shot we've seen however (right), think "garden" in the loosest sense of the term, as the space has more of sparse, industrial feel. Norwegian/German four-piece The Whitest Boy Alive will be among the first acts to test the water with a Sunday afternoon show on August 16th. The area was previously used in a storage capacity for sections of the old Berlin Wall, which will become the subject of a joint artistic venture between the club and non-profit organisation Artitude. Artists will be invited to paint upon 20 metre sections of the wall under the "Write The Wall" banner, which will be followed next year by a sculpture-based project alongside Japanese artist Yukihiro Taguchi. Tickets for The Whitest Boy Alive's upcoming open-air performance at Tape Garden are available directly through RA Tickets.
