UNsound - NYC

RA has always been about its users. You add events in your area, you add photo galleries to shows you've been to, you chat in the forums and you pick your favourite DJs, clubs, labels and more. And we love it. We wouldn't be here without you.

So that's why when we decided to look into our next major upgrades to the site, we targeted you. We know how passionate you are about music, and as a result we've transformed the "My RA" page for all registered users on the site to include updates based on your favourites. Is Radio Slave your favourite DJ? If he adds a chart, you'll know immediately. Is Berghain your favourite club? Once they've added their newest line-up, you'll be the first to know. Has RA praised Dial's newest 12-inch? You'll see that too. The more favourites you have, the more you'll see on the page.

But that's not all. Now you'll be able to add and manage friends more easily. Which means you'll be able to message them all the faster through the site. Oh. And speaking of messaging, we're changing that a bit too. We've rebuilt our system to include threaded messaging—so you can see the whole conversation easily—and you'll now be able to send a message to multiple recipients at once. The catch? Your old messages will be removed in the coming weeks.

In addition to making your friends easier to contact, we've also found a way for you to view their calendar of events. Keen to make plans for this weekend with a bunch of your mates? It's easier than ever. Of course, if you're keen to not have other people viewing your calendar, like, for instance, your employer, we've got you covered there too. We've added privacy settings to your account to allow you to control access. Even people randomly googling you.

Along with a host of cosmetic changes—icons, forum layout, background colour—we've added quite a bit to the site over the past few days. And we hope you'll like it. But, like most things, it's something of a live beta. A first step to further personalised content, communication and interaction. If you have any thoughts on the new features—the good, the bad, the bugs—let us know in the forum. We'll be trying to respond to your questions, comments and concerns as best as we can.comment 48 Comments
