Fabric have announced details surrounding their 10th birthday celebrations.
If we have to explain Fabric's modus operandi to you, it's quite likely your reading the wrong website. But as 10 years have passed since the Farringdon venue first flung open those hallowed chrome doors, we might as well have a recap. Surfacing around the time of the moribund "super club" period, Fabric's expressed aim was to shine a light on the only the finest underground electronic music across their purpose built, three roomed space. Friday nights Fabriclive sessions have traditionally been the preserve of broken beats: drum & bass, breakbeat, electro, hip-hop, indie dance and anything else under this extremely loose bracket have all featured at varying points, while Saturday has been the night to hear bleeding edge house and techno as epitomized by the club's long-standing residents
Craig Richards and
Terry Francis.
Almost all of the venue's musical facets will come under representation over the three day celebration, although "three days" may be a modest estimate if the length of previous birthday celebrations are anything to go by. So...deep breath.
And here we go. On Saturday, Fabric has announced that the disco won't close: Craig Richards, Terry Francis,
Andrew Weatherall,
Ricardo Villalobos,
Steve Bug,
Michael Mayer,
Ivan Smagghe,
Mathew Jonson (LIVE),
Daniel Bell (DBX) (LIVE),
Konrad Black,
Swayzak (LIVE),
Kenny Larkin (LIVE),
Hipp-e, Halo,
Fred Everything,
Rub N Tug,
Doc Martin and
Daniel Wang will all be on hand to pay tribute. And apparently that's just the beginning.
But until we learn more about the acts playing on Saturday (and Sunday), we're left with the previous two nights. First up, on Thursday, you'll have the drum & bass special with
Skream,
Andy C,
DJ Hype,
Caspa and more. While Fabric celebrates the live side of things with none other than
Simian Mobile Disco,
DJ Craze,
Scratch Perverts, The Subs and (again) much more to be announced very soon.
Epic.
