  • DJ Koze and Marcus Fink will open a new label next month called Pampa. Many are familiar with DJ Koze, of course. Renowned as one of the electronic music scene's most challenging and successful remixers, he's the man behind RA's #1 track of 2008, "I Want to Sleep." Fink, meanwhile, is the label manager of Get Physical, and was largely responsible for bringing out Koze's recent remix compilation on the imprint. Their new venture, Pampa, is reportedly "dedicated to releasing club music that's seriously danceable without recourse to the tried and tested ingredients. A home for house and techno tunes that will conquer hearts and take root there forever, music that's brave and not afraid to break with convention." We've heard that one before, but with work in the can from Jackmate, Koze and Alex Boman, we have no doubt they're capable of some special things. The first 12-inch comes from Die Vögel, a project that brings together Jakobus Siebels and Mense Reents, for three tracks that each go rather heavy on the horns to hypnotic effect. Think Smith N' Hack's remix of Herbert crossed with Taraf de Haïdouks and you're getting close. It's set to be released on October 19th.
