Love it or hate it, New Year's Eve is approaching quickly, and there are plenty of parties all vying for your attention and attendance. Sure, it may be the most expensive night of the year to go out and dance, but hopefully the line-ups and decadent atmosphere should more than make up for it. London always has a heavyweight selection of nights to hit up on the last night of the year, but in case you're a little bit overwhelmed by the choice, we're here to help you decide the ideal spot for you to bring in 2010.
Ministry Of Sound's bash at the O2 Arena is the priciest party of the night, costing £75 for a single standing ticket and taking aim at the more mainstream side of the dance music market with sets from
Calvin Harris,
Eric Prydz,
Deadmau5 and
Justice. Over at their Gaunt Street club, MOS's Friday night fixture The Gallery will be piling on the trance with
Sander van Doorn and
Tall Paul,
Funkagenda heads up Pacha's commercial house offering, and
Klaxons,
Simian Mobile Disco and
Annie Mac are amongst the main acts at Get Loaded In The Dark's Brixton Academy event.
Those looking to go to similarly sized venues for more underground sounds still have plenty of choices, such as
Sven Vath's Cocoon party at matter (which features Berghain/Panorama Bar residents
Cassy and
André Galluzzi amongst others),
Steve Bug,
Appleblim and
Kode9 at Eastern Electrics, or Fabric's twelve hour extravaganza with
Andrew Weatherall,
Ivan Smagghe,
Rub N Tug and
Hot Chip's
Joe Goddard. Drum & bass heads will surely be all about Innovation's bash with
Grooverider and Andy C at Fire, while house fans will have to choose between secretsundaze with
Delano Smith and
Wbeeza at The Camp, or Irish deep house duo
Fish Go Deep at Egg.
Cafe 1001 offers a cheaper option for fans of techier four-to-the-floor beats, boasting sets from
Luke Solomon,
Perc and
Ed Davenport, while
Magda and
Heartthrob will be representing the Minus roster over at T Bar. Discerning disco fans have three options;
Horse Meat Disco,
Holy Ghost! and
Jacques Renault will be headlining the biggest of the three at Cargo,
Faze Action and DJHistory.com don
Bill Brewster take the controls at The Star Of Bethnal Green, while The Horse & Groom offers a slightly more diverse take on things with the help of Dave Congreve, Frank Tope and Nathan Gregory Wilkins.
It may only be a day later, but prices are back down to much more reasonable levels on January 1st, giving both penny-pinching revellers a chance to go out as well as persuading the more hardened ravers to venture out of the house yet again.
Sasha will be holding court over the progressive kids at Ministry Of Sound, Mannheim houser
Nick Curly tops the bill at Fuse's 93 Feet East bash,
Seth Troxler will most probably be carrying on the party from the night before at Murmur,
Stephan Bodzin,
Marc Romboy and
Martinez will be amongst the guests at Wetyourself's Fabric do, while Circo Loco will host Romanian minimal house trio
Raresh,
Pedro and
Rhadoo at matter.
