Trus'me to issue In the Red

The Mancunian house head will release his second album later this year, which features guest spots from Dam-Funk and Amp Fiddler.

David Wolstencroft (AKA Trus'me) is set to follow up his debut album later this year.

The Prime Numbers boss has been steadily raising his profile over the past couple of years, racking up a flurry of his own sample-heavy releases as well as growing his label with tracks from Wireman, Actress and Reggie Dokes. Add to that a residency in NYC and his own Disco 3000 festival in Croatia, and it seems like Wolstencroft has been a very busy man.

Wolstencroft's obviously still had the time to work on new material, as his forthcoming In The Red album shows, though. Whereas his good friends from Manchester and Scotland helped him out with the live instrumentation on Working Night$, his sophomore effort sees David working with more established names. Piranhahead and Paul Randolph lend their vocals to one track each, LA-based boogie enthusiast Dam-Funk helps out on a low-slung version of Was (Not Was)' "Wheel Me Out," while Detroit multi-instrumentalist Amp Fiddler lends his skills to two tracks, including the album-opening cover of Bill Withers' "Can We Pretend." It may be less sample-based than his previous work, but In The Red should still appeal greatly to fans of Wolstencroft's organic house sound.

Fri, 29 Jan 2010Is it just me or did the first half of this album sound pretty cheesy? The covers come off almost like an all-inclusive resort cover band trying too hard to inject 'soul' into classics they can't possibly help to match. The only exception is 'Bail Me Out' which just sounds like Dam-Funk and Trus' Me took something easily accesible to both in order to produce a formulaic reworking... I really thought something sick would have come from that pairing but this really isn't particularly... More

Fri, 29 Jan 2010this is album is a mature, beautiful work that shows progress as not only a producer but as a musician as well. people who are still on the whole working nights sound can go listen to that, not that it was bad, but this to me is a much better 'album' it flows, it is versatile, it is forward thinking and it is soulful. 5/5

the only track i didn't like was sucker for a pretty face, all of the other ones (interlude included) are stellar.

Fri, 29 Jan 2010I like the album a lot!

It's different from Working Nights, but i rather have an artist who can do both. I'm curious were he's taking us with the next one!
