DJ Mehdi has compiled a mix CD consisting strictly of his own remixes.
The French hip-hop and electro-house producer was elevated to fame after being picked up by
Busy P's Ed Banger imprint back in 2006, showcasing a sound that is much more melodic and measured than his peers and labelmates. Following on from his sophomore full-length (and debut for Ed Banger)
Lucky Boy, his forthcoming CD sees him package his remix work into a single-disc mix, collecting some of his more popular re-rubs as well as unreleased material. There's a heavy French presence on the mix, with reworks of
Joakim,
Etienne De Crecy,
Sebastien Tellier,
Cassius,
Busy P and Mehdi himself, but there's also plenty of non-Gallic inclusions as well (namely
New Young Pony Club,
Chromeo and Architecture In Helsinki). The mix is apparently a stopgap for his third album, which should see a release sometime next year.
