You'll be touring Australia over the Christmas period – how long is it since you were last in the country? Is there going to be potential for sightseeing this time around?
I’ve been asking around, actually, as I can't find my old date sheets and my memory box has expired. It turns out I haven't been in Australia since the end of 2005! Is that really true? I guess I got a little busy over the last 5 years. Wow, that’s got me really excited to be coming back. Regarding sightseeing, I’ll try my best, but it’s likely I will only see the inside of some afterhours clubs (and maybe the Great Barrier Reef).
You moved to Los Angeles earlier this year, right? How's everything going? What was the motive behind the move?
I am loving LA. I am not what you would generally describe as "a Hollywood person," but I live in a very cool part of town, and in the last year I’ve really had a great time. I needed a break from London for a bit and, right now, I don’t see myself moving again. The scene here is building nicely, and it's easy for me to travel from here, too. Plus, Jim Henson's studios are just up the road, so it’s good to be neighbours with The Muppets.
What are the Crosstown plans for early-2010? We see an LP from Glimpse is on the way. What else can we expect?
Glimpse has made an incredible album for us, as has a new a producer from Turkey called Deniz Kurtel, who is amazing. We also have new music coming from
Jamie Jones,
Seth Troxler, Freaks and
Laurent Garnier, to name just a few. We will be putting together a world tour called the "Rebel Rave Tour" from February through to July, and making some more cool films on
www.rebelrave.tv.
You've spent 2009 honing your live show. Has it progressed as you'd hoped? Will it be back next year?
Yes, it went really well. We selected a handful of venues to perform the live show in, and then I got asked to tour live with
Underworld in America which was pretty special. We are planning a few shows for next year too, and my
Smoke The Monster Out remix album will also be coming out…
You're still releasing your own productions exclusively on Get Physical – can you see yourself releasing material on Crosstown anytime in the future, or is it something that just isn't going to happen?
Maybe. I have been making some interesting music in my studio in LA, but there are no concrete plans at the moment. I have been busy working on a movie soundtrack project, however, and a few other things, so I expect 2010 to be a pretty exciting year.
