Ellen Allien is next in line to compile an edition of the Watergate mix series.

Beginning with the ethnic minimal stylings of Onur Özer in July of last year, the Watergate mix series has spanned entries from Sascha Funke, Konrad Black and most recently Sebo K, who blended classic-rooted deep house with contemporary club cuts on his October released effort. For number five in the series, the Kreuzberg venue has turned to another of their long standing residents—Ellen Allien—to take the controls.

Watergate 05 is a single disc, 16-track affair that cuts a somewhat breezier figure than her previous commercially available mix efforts for fabric and BPitch's Boogy Bytes series. John Tejada, Luciano, Alexi Delano and Royksopp all make the grade on this occasion, while the sound of her own imprint comes under representation from Aerea Negrot and AGF/Delay. In a similar twist to Sebo K remixing Martyn's "Elden St" on the last installment, Allien sets to work on Uffie's "Pop The Glock," a cut that saw the light of day exclusively on digital download store Beatport in the middle of November.

Tracklist
01. DK Yellow - Lost
02. John Tejada - The End Of It All
03. Lump – Music Lover
04. Luciano - Celestial
05. Niconé & Sascha Breamer - Nur Ma Kurz (Phillip Bader remix)
06. Audiophungz - Pretending
07. Aerea Negrot - All I Wanna Do
08. Dark Unknown - The Dark (Black mix)
09. Juno 6 - Action 2
10. Matias Aguayo - Bo Jack (Vocal mix)
11. Alexi Delano - Molar One
12. Röyksopp – This Must Be It (Apparat remix)
13. Uffie - Pop The Glock (Ellen Allien remix)
14. Agf/Delay - Connection (Hearthrob remix)
15. Margaret Dygas - Hidden Form View (Hidden Nsi. mix)
16. Brigitte Fontain&Khan - Fine Mouche (Original Tango Piano version)

Watergate will release Ellen Allien's Watergate 05 on February 1 2010.

Tue, 06 Apr 2010I have listening the Cd twice. By the First play i heard that terribel Mixing during the first 10 Minutes. Such bad mixing i have heared the last Time on the In Bed with Space Compilation.
How can this be released?
I pay money for that. Every Podcast for free is better than this mix cd.

The trackselection is very god but Ellen is very know for not been the best mixing Artist on this Planet.
The crapest Watergate Release so far.

Fri, 12 Mar 2010I am a huge fan of ellen as well. She is one of my biggest inspirations as an artist. I was also looking forward to this mix. The review is spot on. I feel the mix was rushed. I bet the best of bpitch that was made for beams concept stores in japan is much better. I wish I could find a way to listen to it. Everytime I've seen her live she played a great set. I've always seen her at small events though. So maybe it's the size of the venue that makes the difference.
