  • One of Berlin's most beloved clubbing institutions, WMF, has canceled all upcoming events. In an e-mail sent out to friends and partners last evening, Gerriet Schultz said that the club has been given an "instant dismissal of our lease contract," and that "the insolvency proceedings are opened for...Abbey Road Events GmbH," the company behind the club. On Facebook, meanwhile, a group has rallied around the club, hoping to find a way to keep the venue exactly where it is. With Schultz's words in mind and the cancellation of all upcoming events, though, it looks unlikely that the club will be able to do so. WMF has a long history of moving locations in and around the Mitte area of Berlin. It only started throwing weekly events in its Klosterstrasse space in September. Numbers had been solid in the opening weeks and for various special events such as Hardwax's 20th Birthday and various Club Transmediale 10 events. There have been numerous reports, however, that for as many packed nights as the club held, there were also events that barely filled one of the three club rooms. With WMF's obvious talent for reincarnation, it's hard to believe that this will be the last we hear of the Berlin club.
