The two-day festival will close out Miami's Winter Music Conference with Carl Cox, Tiesto and Deadmau5.
The "phase one" lineup of the 12th edition of Miami's annual Ultra Music Festival has been announced.
The Winter Music Conference calendar would not be complete without the Festival, which acts as the official closing party for the week-long Conference. The 2010 edition of the Festival continues the tradition of showcasing crowd-pleasing house, electro-house and trance DJs alongside acts of a more underground persuasion.
Originally created as a pure EDM festival in 1999, the first two editions featured Paul van Dyk, Sasha & Digweed, Josh Wink and LTJ Bukem. Growing attendance numbers, lineups and venues throughout the intervening nine years has led to crossover acts like Fatboy Slim, David Guetta and Simian Mobile Disco gracing its stages, as well as indie bands and popular electronic acts like Cut Copy, Booka Shade, Pendulum and Santigold.
This year will see the return of Ultra alumni Tiesto, and Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am, making a solo appearance. On a similar tip, Faithless, Groove Armada and Deadmau5 will also be performing. Bass-heavy music penetrates the lineup this year with Major Lazer and Crookers, as well as dubsteppers Skream and Benga, while breaks, trance and electro will be represented by Plump DJs, Armin Van Buuren and Felix Da Housecat respectively. "Phase two" of the lineup is forthcoming, with more acts to be announced.
