The DVD will hit stores in February following a screening in Berlin.
Making Contakt—The Documentary will be released at the end of February, following a screening at transmediale.10 in Berlin.
Directed by Ali Demirel and Richie Hawtin, Making Contakt chronicles the highly ambitious and unconventional production that was the 2008 Contakt tour, following the Minus crew across several continents and dozens of major cities, from the first show in Detroit to the grand finale in Tokyo. The film includes live footage of Hawtin, Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Heartthrob and Gaiser.
Making Contakt also aims to tell the story of the tour, showing successful live shows as well as near disasters. With its improvisational performances, extravagant stage sets and experiments in social networking technology (e.g. the ever controversial Cube), Contakt was often a logistical nightmare, and the film does not shy away from documenting the difficulties of making it all happen.
The film will be screened in Berlin on February 3rd during transmediale.10. After the film, Richie Hawtin and Ali Demirel will have a Q&A session with the audience.
M_nus will release Making Contakt—The Documentary on February 26th.
