Richard Norris has finished putting the final touches on his debut album as The Time & Space Machine.

The last couple of years have seen The Grid founder team up with Erol Alkan for their Beyond The Wizards Sleeve project, working on their own distinct brand of psychedelic edits as well as plenty of remixes for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Midlake, Tracey Thorn and Franz Ferdinand. 2009's Re-animations Vol. 1 remix collection marked the end of a chapter for the duo, and since then Norris has been focusing strictly on his solo productions, which combine samples from his extensive psychedelia collection with live instrumentation and plenty of FX boxes.

"This is the first time I've made an album pretty much on my own," Norris explains, "Apart from two days laying down drums with ace beatnik drum-lord Wildcat Will and a couple of vocal sessions, this record was pieced together solo over many months in a room beneath a castle in Lewes, Sussex, England. It's a different dynamic making a record on your own, and allowed the record to grow in its own particular way."

If you were expecting quite a languid selection of tracks, then you might be in for quite a surprise, with Norris kicking the collection straight off with "Time & Space" ("I wanted an opener that went from an atmospheric place to a real lift off into space") before surging into the rigid but propulsive rhythm section of "Set Phazer to Stun." However, "You Are the One," "Mushroom Family" and "Children of the Sun" show the more reflective side of Norris, conjuring up images of the swinging '60s in full flow.

Tracklist
01. Time and Space
02. Path Through The Cathedral
03. Set Phazer To Stun
04. You Are The One
05. Children Of The Sun
06. Zeitghost
07. Infinite
08. More Cowbell
09. Midsummer Night
10. Mushroom Family
11. After The Gold Rush

Tirk will release The Time & Space Machine in March 2010.
