  • King Britt will release his next album, Intricate Beauty, this April on Nervous Records. The album will hit stores roughly twenty years since Britt's first appearance on the music scene. The Philly-based artist first made waves as the DJ in Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group Digable Planets. From there, Britt became a renowned DJ and electronic music innovator in New York, where he eventually founded Ovum Recordings with Josh Wink. He's kept active ever since, doing remixes for everyone from Yoko Ono to Donna Lewis and releasing records on Rapster, Slip n' Slide and Ropeadope Records. Intricate Beauty is likely to be Britt's final "dance" record; from here on, he plans to focus on experimental music and improvisational electronic performance. In making Intricate Beauty, Britt collected hundreds of tiny "micro-sounds" from other recordings, then used Ableton Live to mold them all together. Britt plans to release these micro-sounds as a Live Pack in the next few months. "These will be sounds that people can use for inspiration and production,” King says. Tracklist 01.
