- Massive Passive and Precision Enhancer Hz will attend to matters of EQ and bass enhancing, respectively.
Universal Audio have added two more plug-ins to their their UAD2 range of DSP cards.
Manley Massive Passive EQ is software emulation of Manley Labs' esteemed hardware EQ unit, which features four bands of fully parametric EQ across its Standard and Mastering versions. UA have opted to allow a fair amount of overlap in the range of each of the four bands (22Hz to 1kHz, 82Hz to 3.9kHz, 220Hz to 10kHz, and 550Hz to 27kHz), while all of the bands will operate in parallel—a feature which UA say is crucial to modeling the sound of the original. In keeping with the Manley Labs' original, the EQ circuits can be switched in or out, meaning that a signal can retain all of the desirable colour, whether or not the EQs are actually engaged.
Also now available is the Precision Enhancer Hz, which concerns itself with tarting up the harmonic content of a bass signal below a user defined frequency range. The plug-in works by giving an impression of increased low frequency content anywhere between 16 and 320Hz, and on a filter slop of either 6dB, 12dB, 24dB and 36dB per octave. Good for a "weighty sound" we understand.
Both the Manley Massive Passive EQ and the Precision Enhancer Hz are available from the UAD site at a price of $299 and $199, respectively.
