- The new mix CD compiles underground British dance tracks from the 70's and 80's.
For his latest mix compilation, Joey Negro will focus exclusively on Brit Funk from the '70s and '80s, compiling 23 tracks across two discs.
For those not yet in the know, Brit Funk was a movement that began in the '70s in London, when disco was on its way out and clubs were looking for something new. It took inspiration from jazz, funk and soul, but was tailored more specifically for the dance floor, with high tempos and prominent basslines. Backstreet Brit Funk provides a formidable history lesson in the genre, comprising essential tracks by groups like Freeze, The Warriors, Mirage and Surface Noise, many of which were re-edited by Negro exclusively for the compilation.
