Ice Palace reabsorbs Karu & Y

- The 25,000 square foot venue is once again part of Ice Palace Film Studios.
- Ice Palace Film Studios, home of WMC's Sunday School for Degenerates party, have announced that they have taken back their west building, formerly the nightclub Karu & Y. Management at The Ice Palace have stressed that the change will not affect any parties currently scheduled at Karu & Y, including those during WMC, which commences today across Miami. Tomorrow night's "I Want House" party has been moved to a nearby club called Mekka, though there is no indication that this is related to Ice Palace's announcement. For the past three years, Karu & Y used their corner of the Ice Palace to throw big, posh parties, frequented by punters and celebrities alike. How the venue will now be used remains unclear, though the South Florida Business Journal reports that the building and its gardens "...will no longer be a nightclub, but instead a special events facility servicing large events," such as concerts, charities and "large dinners for corporations." Ice Palace Film Studios owner Eugene Rodriguez said in a news release: "We feel there is a real need for elegant and flexible spaces where people can produce creative events of all kinds and strive to be an effective resource for South Florida's tourism and advertising industry, as well as the local community which is in dire need of a space of this nature."
