- The reborn experimental label will release three new full-lengths next week.
Newly revived experimental label Mille Plateaux has announced plans for its first string of full-lengths, including a new edition of Clicks & Cuts, the celebrated compilation series.
Widely considered one of the best avant-garde electronic labels of the '90s and early '00s, the first incarnation of Mille Plateaux ceased production in 2004 following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Force Inc. Music Works. The imprint announced it was back in business earlier this year, having been recently acquired by Marcus Gabler, a music industry entrepreneur and former member of the pop group Okay, who topped German and Austrian charts in 1988 with their eponymous single "Okay."
While the original series showcased artists like Fennesz, Luomo and SND, Clicks & Cuts 5.0 - Paradigm Shift focuses on "a totally new generation of young artists", including acts like Aoki Takamasa, Manathol and Wyatt Keusch. The compilation will see release on the same day as two other Mille Plateaux full-lengths: Ametsub's The Nothings Of The North and Kabutogani's BEKTOP. The former is a re-issue, having already been released in 2009 on Progressive Form and Third Ear (not the house label). The latter is exclusive to Mille Plateaux—the third album by Kabutogani, a France-based glitch artist.
