  • Dutch production duo TJ Kong and Nuno dos Santos are set to release their debut album, whimsically entitled After Dark, My Sweet. The new record shows the two artists attempting to bring more human emotion to house and techno. "Call us romantics, but hasn't the love been lost from a lot of dance music?" Kong asks. "We wanted to bring back some of that love," says Nuno, "and we wanted to make an album that's not limited to the dance floors". To reach the level of magic they had in mind, Kong and Nuno enlisted a pack of guest artists, including Spunk, who's also a member of fellow Compost group Marbert Rocel. Some listeners may recognize the voice of Jemini, who lamented the role of the DJ girlfriend on Nick Holder's "No More Dating DJs," and who appears here on "Once Upon a Rhyme." Nigerian singer Nicolette, who worked with Massive Attack on their album Protection, lends her vocal talents on "Birthday," and American house vocalist Robert Owens appears twice, on "Where Were You" and a new version of "Merging," originally released in 2008. After Dark, My Sweet will be preceded later this month by Compost Black Label #64, an EP featuring remixes of "Where Were You" by the duo themselves and longtime friend Kirk Degiorgio. Both releases feature artwork by Amsterdam-based graffiti artist Delta. Tracklist 01. This Time feat. Spunk 02. Tranentrekker 03. Where Were You feat. Robert Owens 04. Something Happened feat.
