  • Hip-hop beatsmith Jamie Meline, better known as El-P, has announced plans to release a new instrumental full-length this August, entitled Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3. As its title suggests, the record follows up two earlier Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxxes, which were previously available at El-P's live shows. But Meline sees his upcoming release as a standalone album, as well as something to tide over his fans while they wait for a follow up to 2007's I'll Sleep When Your Dead. "I look at this new one as a proper album," he says. "Me calling it a Megamixxx is just an excuse to get to Volume Three of anything." The record comprises mostly new productions by Meline, plus remixes of artists like Kidz in the Hall and Young Jeezy. In terms of style, it's partly inspired by J Dilla's instrumental classic Donuts, and shares that record's jumbled yet coherent feel. "I wanted to do little mini-movements that had a real beginning, middle and end and then moved on," says Meline. "The challenge for me was taking all these seemingly unrelated little pieces of music I had laying around and fitting them together as a cohesive piece. I wanted to craft a record that had an arc."
