- Mount Kimbie, Pearson Sound and Mosca are amongst the artists contributing to the label's latest compilation.
Gilles Peterson's label will showcase their love of current electronic sounds on their latest compilation, due for release next month.
Entitled Brownswood Electr*c, the CD is touted as a collection of tracks that blur the boundaries between house, hip-hop, dubstep and drum & bass, attempting to represent current developments in the bass music scene and beyond. For this particular compilation, Peterson has handed over curation duties to his assistant Alex Stevenson (who also makes up one-third of London-based trio Patchwork Pirates), who has managed commission a host of unreleased material on top of tried-and-tested cuts from Mount Kimbie, Pearson Sound and Mosca.
Of the new faces, George Fitzgerald pops up with a future garage track that cuts a similar cloth to his "Don't You" from Scuba's Sub:stance mix, Iceland's Hypno goes for a stuttering UK funky vibe, and Estonia's KiEnRa combines modern boogie and hip-hop sounds. 16Bit also contribute "ADSL," which is an unusually deep selection that should surprise fans that have become accustomed to their aggressive dubstep style.
