- Finland and Japan noisily meet on Blast First Petite's next LP.
Mute records offshoot Blast First Petite is set to release a collaborative LP by Pan Sonic and Haino Keiji, grandiosely entitled Synergy Between Mercy and Self-Annihilation Overturned.
Though they share a taste for what Dusted Magazine calls "ecstatic cacophony," Keiji and Pan Sonic (AKA Mika Vainio and Ilpo Vaisanen) have distinctly different styles of experimental music. The former artist (sometimes referred to as Keiji Haino) usually relies on guitars and frantic vocals, while his Finnish counterparts favor cold, metallic sounds, often driven by a glitchy pulse. Synergy was recorded back in 2007, several days after Keiji and Pan Sonic performed together at the Voslkbühne in Berlin, a concert documented by the album Shall I Download a Black Hole and Give It To You? It will be Pan Sonic's second full-length this year, following Gravitoni, which hit stores last month.
