  • Raster-Noton mainstay Alva Noto and avant-garde performer Blixa Bargeld are set to release a new album this fall, entitled Mimikry. Bargeld and Nicolai first teamed up back in 2007 for a collaborative performance in San Francisco. Their musical backgrounds were different but compatible: Bargeld had cut his teeth singing for proto-industrial outfit Einsturzende Neubauten and later played guitar for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, while Nicolai made his career pushing the glitchy electronic sounds Raster-Noton is known for. They found Nicolai's prodding beats went well with Bargeld's spontaneous vocal style and decided to record together under the name ANBB, eventually releasing the Ret Marut Handshake EP earlier this year via Raster-Noton. Mimikry features mostly new tracks by the duo alongside selections from that EP, plus a rendition of "I Wish I Was a Mole in the Ground," an American folk classic originally composed in 1924. The album will be available on CD and double-LP, both of which include a 16-page booklet of text and drawings Bargeld penned during the recording process. Tracklist 01. Fall 02. Once Again 03.
