- The Balearic disco artist has finished work on his second solo album.
Tokyo-based artist Max Essa is ready to release his next album this fall on Bear Funk.
Entitled White Shoes White Dreams, the new record shows Essa further exploring his pop-infused style of Balearic disco, with 12 cuts of sunny, low-tempo grooves. Much of the album is touched with a bit of '80s throwback, due in part to Essa's dramatic vocals, which recall bands like Simple Minds and Men Without Hats. White Shoes Blue Dreams will be his third full-length in just over a year, following his debut solo LP Continental Drift and Zim Zim Zah Zah, his collaborative effort with Stevie Kotey from last December. Everything on the record is previously unreleased, except for the title track, which came out as a single earlier this year.
