  • This November, !K7 will release the first full-length by Brandt Brauer Frick, entitled You Make Me Real. Made up of Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick, the classical and jazz-influenced trio play live dance music with an avant-garde twist. "We had felt for years that most instances of combining techno and classical music lack[ed] an authentic approach," they say. "Instead of using only the typical epic orchestra or piano sounds, we love to explore the dirty and percussive sides of those instruments, adapting techniques from composers like John Cage or Helmut Lachenmann: preparing our piano with screws and rubbers, knocking against every single part of an instrument, until we find that one great sound." Brandt Brauer Frick have only put out a few 12-inches since forming in 2008, but their unusual sound has already garnered a fair amount of attention; Kanye West posted the video for their track "Bop" on his blog last year, and Groove praised the group as a "common denominator between Steve Reich and Theo Parrish." You Make Me Real boast mostly unreleased tracks, plus the aforementioned single "Bop." Brandt Brauer Frick will support the album with a new live act that shows them moving from an electro-acoustic trio to a fully acoustic ten-piece ensemble. Specific dates for the tour have yet to be announced. Tracklist 01. Corky Prelude 02. Bop 03. Paparazzi 04. Caffeine 05. Mi Corazon 06. Heart of Stone 07. R.W. John 08. You Make Me Real 09.
