German experimental outfit Einsturzende Neubauten will release their next compilation, Strategies Against Architecture IV , this November on Mute Records .
Founded roughly 30 years ago by Blixa Bargeld and Gudrun Gut among others, Neubauten have always been deeply unconventional: their sound varies wildly from one album to the next, and much of their music is performed on instruments made of tools and scrap metal. The group have had immeasurable influence on techno and industrial music, thanks mostly to their early use of loops and found sounds. Strategies Against Architecture IV compiles their work since 2002, a period during which they released their so-called "supporter albums," which were composed in collaboration with fans who provided input via www.neubauten.org . The double-disc package also features material from various live shows, including their "deeply symbolic" performance at Berlin's Palast der Republik (the former seat of the GDR) and cuts from the limited edition "Masterhaus" series.
The collection will coincide with Einsturzende Neubauten's 30th anniversary tour, which kicks off next month and stretches all the way through December. Each stop on the tour includes a concert by the band as well as an event called "A Night With Einsturzende Neubatuen," which features a more diverse program of films, guest appearances and solo performances.
