Allen & Heath have officially unveiled their new Xone:DB4 mixer at the annual BPM conference in Birmingham this past weekend.
Although details were obtained in the middle of last week by savvy internet users manipulating URLs on the Allen & Heath site, the developer has since passed on the official word regarding the Xone:DB4. The most notable introduction with the Xone:DB4 is its DSP engine for effects and loops processing. A BPM detection system keeps all time-related loops and effects in sync with the source signal, while five effects—delay, reverb, modulation, resonator and damage—adorn each of its four channels. The looper, meanwhile, has a range of 1/16 beat up to 4 bars.
As you might expect, the Xone:DB4 retains the range's much-loved filter system. Also on matters of frequency manipulation, each channel sports a 3-band EQ that can be switched between a standard asymmetric EQ (+6/-25dB), isolator (+6dB/OFF with a 24dB/octave slope), or high-pass/low-pass filter with resonance. The knobs handily change colour to indicate which mode you're currently in. Also featured is a built-in 24-bit/96kHz, multi-channel USB2 soundcard; mic/line input with 2-band EQ, gain, cue and mix level; and an option to store user defined settings like BPM range, meter mode and display brightness on a USB key for recall on another DB4.
Allen & Heath will release the Xone:DB4 in December 2010 with a suggested retail price of £1,933.37 + VAT.
