- Recorded in London this past summer, the new full-length will see release next Tuesday on DFA.
LCD Soundsystem have announced details for an in-studio live album due out on Tuesday, entitled The London Sessions.
Though the in-studio live album has fallen out of vogue as of late, they were a common fixture of underground music throughout much of the '80s and '90s, thanks to the late John Peel's celebrated radio show on BBC1. The Peel Sessions hosted artists of virtually all imaginable styles, from Motorhead to Aphex Twin, but placed special emphasis on post-punk, experimental rock and indie rock. Given the all-live, all-analog nature of their stage show, LCD Soundsystem would seem an especially good candidate for the format.
According to Pitchfork, The London Sessions were recorded during the week immediately following this year's Glastonbury festival. The album features nine tracks in total, with selections from each of the band's three albums on DFA Records. Though it will be available via iTunes from Tuesday, it won't see wide release until December 6th.
