- The Berghain Kantine now houses an intimate 50-seat restaurant, complete with a fireplace and gourmet cuisine.
Berlin's ever-evolving Berghain/Panorama Bar just got a classy new addition: an intimate place to have dinner on weekends in the Kantine.
The 50-seat restaurant is called Kreuz Friedrichs, and will be open from Thursday through Sunday throughout the winter. According to a description in Sugarhigh, the place offers "an eclectic menu mixing North African, Mediterranean and contemporary European flavours" in a "cosy, relaxed dining room, with an adjacent lounge, warmed by a large wood-burning fireplace, for breaks in between courses." While that may sound like a great way to quench the nagging hunger that comes from 20+ hours of raving, Kreuz Friedrichs isn't the kind of place where you can just pop in for a quick bite: due to the limited size, reservations are recommended (and you probably need to wear a shirt, which could prove problematic for many of Berghain's patrons).
The spot will work as a winter counterpart to Bierhof Rudersdorf, Berghain's open-air beer and schnitzel spot that's open all summer.
