  • American-born producer Eric Estornel, AKA Maceo Plex, will release an album called Life Index early next year on Crosstown Rebels. In the 11 some odd years he's been putting out records, Estornel has never stuck to one moniker for long. He released the bulk of music (including two albums) under the name Maetrik, but has also appeared as Mariel Ito, Plaex, Eric Entity and Tali Wackas as well as his given name. Most of these guises represent slightly different styles, some more tech house, others more IDM; Maceo Plex is the one he reserves for most house-leaning excursions. So far the alias has appeared on just one 12-inch: the Clubs EP from last year on Resopal Schallware (a split with himself as Maetrik). The new album was recorded following Estornal's relocation from Dallas, Texas to Valencia, Spain, a move that no doubt had an influence on his productions. "Life Index is my baby," he says. "It's all the soul music I've been holding inside and have been wanting to write." It will be his first release on Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels imprint. Tracklist 01. Im A Metaphor 02. Gravy Train 03. Sleazy E 04. The Feelin 05. Silo 06. You & Me 07. Vibe Your Love 08. Your Style 09. Arise 10. Love You Mama 11. Dexters Flight 12. Bring It Back Crosstown Rebels will release Life Index on February 7th, 2010.
