- The new London label launches next month with a 12-inch from the Bristol-based producer.
A new London-based record label called PMR Records will launch in January with a 12-inch from Julio Bashmore.
PMR is a family affair with a modest and open-minded perspective. Ben Parmar, who runs the label with his brother Daniel, explained the outfit's method thusly: "Humility, quality and longevity... We don't want the label to be defined by any specific genre of music but simply want to sign and release forward thinking pop music in a completely non-flashy way." In Bashmore the duo have snagged a promising up-and-comer for their first release: just three 12-inches into his career, the Bristol-based artist is already getting attention for his funky-inflected style of house. The EP in question will be called Everybody Needs a Theme Tune and will drop in early January. Looking further into 2011, PMR will put out records by nascent artists like Jessie Ware and Javeon McCarthy, as well as Night Slugs co-founder L-Vis 1990.
