- US work visa problems have derailed the proto-industrial outfit's trek around the US and Canada.
German experimental veterans Einsturzende Neubauten have been forced to call off their American tour due to problems with their work visas.
The group announced the change in plans earlier this week via Myspace, and included some especially frustrating details. "While the US Department of Homeland Security did issue approvals for the band's visas," they said, "it was not done in time to secure the appointments at the overseas embassies and consulates that represent the necessary final step in the process." In other words, another international tour foiled by bureaucratic red tape.
The two week trip was one leg of the group's 30th anniversary tour. Each stop consisted of two back-to-back gigs: one concert, and one event called "A Night with Einsturzende Neubauten," which would feature film clips, guest appearances and solo performances. According to the band, the tour was a "time sensitive production" and therefore cannot be rescheduled.
"The band members are tremendously disappointed by this turn of events and wish to thank all those fans who purchased tickets for these performances for their support," their announcement read. "The band would have loved to do the tour and meet their overseas fans."
