Despite the assumption that the rest of the UK will have to snack on London's leftovers, the range of parties and DJ talent along the length and breadth of Britain this New Year proves there's something for everyone outside of the glittering capital.
The Midlands will find Jesse Rose heading up the wig- and hat-themed shenanigans at Birmingham's Bushwhackers, while progressive stalwarts Global Underground will invite like-minded souls James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli to their bash at Q Club, with a little boompty flavour being provided by Derrick Carter. The Chicago jock will also pop up in Newcastle at the behest of Canvas, while Sander van Doorn will lead the trance charge at Leicester's Emporium.
Manchester staple The Warehouse Project will tie off their impressive year in suitably epic fashion, with Mark Ronson, Annie Mac and Retro/Grade all appearing at Piccadilly, while fellow Mancunians can experience two of the year's breakout stars, Reboot and Lee Foss, plus the prodigiously talented Martinez Brothers at Sankeys.
House will be the feeling in Leeds, with Heidi, Greg Wilson and Burnski all appearing at Stinky's Peephouse, and Jef K headlining Louche & Shhh_ift's bash at Temple Works. Meanwhile, Metropolis and Wax:On will join in unholy union for a night which will see Skream, Benga and Eskimo Twins getting big and brash at Leeds University Union. Liverpudlians will have their main room tastes catered for by Guy J and Steve Parry for Freeze, while on the Isle, the Baron of techno Dave Clarke will return to his favoured Belfast spot, Shine.
In Scotland, Swiss minimal house stable Cadenza will set up a Glaswegian outpost manned by Mendo and Lee Van Dowski, while an anthem or two are surely on the cards for the Sub Club, under the directive of Lil'"French Kiss" Louis, and REKIDS boss Radio Slave. Local bass outfit Numbers will cap of their watershed year with Jackmaster & co at Stereo, and the entire expanse of The Arches will be devoted to the year's end with Pendulum, Kissy Sell Out and Sei A. Meanwhile, the traditional Optimo New Year's bash returns to its original home at Glasgow School of Art.
Hogmanay will be marked with similar vigour in Edinburgh, as Pendulum & Kissy Sell Out make their second Scots appearance for Edinburgh's City Nightclub; techno fans will thrill at the prospect of Surgeon with local lad Neil Landstrumm, while Booka Shade's and Tim Green's festival jams will be perfectly suited to each other, and to The Picture House's arena-sized proportions.
Heading west, and In:Motion's dream run will continue with Toddla T & Redlight, Jamie Jones, Joker and Friendly Fires all heading for Bristol's skate park, while Torque will presumably see Commix getting back to their D&B roots, alongside the likes of Marcus Intalex, Alix Perez and SpectraSoul, while local hotly-tipped artists Al Tourettes will work it live for Work It at Zero Degrees. Elsewhere, Maidstone will welcome everyone's favourite techno dandy Seth Troxler to Banks, Sinden will bounce Cambridge into the New Year at The Junction, and on the south coast, Cecille's Alex Celler & Anthea will hit Portsmouth for Junk.
