From disco to dupstep to straight up techno, here's our run down of what's on in Melbourne this New Year's Eve.
There isn't a busier night in Melbourne than New Year's Eve, and the international talent on offer around this time around confirms that. Disco, techno and dubstep are all on offer for what will be one of Melbourne's most diverse party agendas in some time.
If you're feeling up for a bit of disco, you have two options: Hamburg-based producer Tensnake making his Melbourne debut at New Guernica, or underground icon DJ Harvey at The Toff in Town with DJ Garth. On the house music front, New York's Francois K will head up the cast at Pretty Please in St Kilda, where Haul Records co-founder Christian Vance will also make an appearance.
Close to the city, Glaswegian veterans Slam will man the decks at Brown Alley, where they share the bill with a DJ cast that includes Sebastian Leger, FreQ Nasty, Will Saul and Soul Of Man for Trust Us. At OneSixOne, Thomas Schumacher will touch down for the Melbourne leg of worldwide Get Physical anniversary tour.
New Year's Day will be just as busy. Summadayze has packed in over a dozen internationals, including Boys Noize, Riva Starr and Dennis Ferrer, Claude VonStroke, Justice and Erol Alkan. Over at the Docklands, Steve Lawler, M.A.N.D.Y. and Chris Fortier will share the stage at the Global Sound festival. Once the sun sets, Blow Your Own Way will be hosting their annual Port Phillip Bay cruise, with Berlin-based house jock Quarion alongside The Francis Inferno Orchestra and Craig McWhinney for their water bound festivities. That same night you can catch Rub N Tug's Eric Duncan at Animals Dancing, or UK dubstep artist Loefah as he makes a rare Victorian appearance at Bass Jump.
