- The German experimental producer tries a more traditional groove on a new LP for Shitkatapult.
German electronic artist Frank Bretschneider will release a new LP next month called Komet.
The new album takes its name from one of Bretschneider's old aliases; though he's worked mostly under his real name for the past seven years, in the late '90s and early '00s he released a lot of records (including seven albums) under the name Komet, then revived the pseudonym last fall for a digital EP on False Industries. Stylistically, Komet is a notable departure from Bretschneider's standard fare: atmospheric techno tunes with 4/4 grooves, as opposed to the severely angular beat experiments that dominated records like Rhythm. Instead of his own Raster-Noton imprint, the album will come out on Shitkatapult (a first for Bretschneider). It will be his second in the past 12 months, following last summer's visually enhanced EXP 2CD.
