  • Lima-based artist Jay Haze will release what is allegedly his final album, Love=Evolution, next month through his own label, Contexterrior. The album's title refers to an idea that's shaped much of Haze's thinking in recent months. "After spending years contemplating what love is, I have realized that the only way to evolve is through love," he says. It's due to ruminations like these, joined by deep disillusionment with the music industry, that Haze has decided to make the upcoming long player his last. From here on out, the American-born producer says he will only play select gigs and possibly release music on small labels run by friends. His two labels, Tuning Spork and Contexterrior, will both shut down. Expect more on this in a forthcoming in-depth interview with Haze here on RA. Almost all of the tracks on Love=Evolution are collaborations. In addition to vocalists like Big Bully and dub icon Paul St. Hilaire, the record features production work from Ricardo Villalobos, an artist Haze has worked with many times in the past. Though the record's overall sound could be described as tech house, it features numerous diversions into reggae, dubstep and left-field sounds. Tracklist 01. Loveevolution 02. Tonight feat.
