London DJ and producer Toby Tobias has compiled Underground Disco, an upcoming collection from Ministry Of Sound.

Tobias is a natural pick for a contemporary disco collection. For years he's released a steady stream 12-inches on Rekids, including his 2008 slow-burner The Feeling, and had tracks appear on nu-disco establishments like Tirk, Nang and Bearfunk. For a genre so often rooted in nostalgia, Underground Disco is remarkably locked in the present: the majority of Tobias's picks were released in the past two years. Popular disco staples like Azari & III and Hercules & Love Affair make the cut, but the tracklist also features lesser-known acts like Portugese duo Gala Drop and Golf Channel Records mainstay DJ Nature. A few house and indie tunes are thrown in as well, like Nicolas Jaar's "Time for Us" and Caribou's "Odessa." The release will be Tobias's debut on Ministry of Sound.

pretty disappointed by this future disco, because i really liked the second edition. underground disco, however, is really nice to listen to.

Wed, 09 Mar 2011I really don't know why the reviewer had to pair these two cd's.
Future disco is just a pointless hit parade, but Toby's mix is a concept mix, totally unique, presenting his taste perfect mixing everything from deep house (space dimension controller) to dam funk and onra to nu disco, love it

Thu, 24 Feb 2011Tasty comp. Doesn't break any new ground but then it was never supposed to. Nice round up of good songs and a very reasonable price too. One thing I don't get though, why didn't Toby Tobias do the mix himself rather than the in-house studio guy?
