  • Pioneer have today revealed details of their latest mixer, the DJM-900nexus. As James Zaibiela points out in the below video, the Pioneer DJM-800 has been on the market for around five years now and has represented Pioneer's flagship club offering, making this update perhaps overdue. From the off, Pioneer appear keen to point out that the DJM-900nexus is Traktor Scratch Certified and includes a four-channel 96kHz/24-bit soundcard, meaning DJs can connect their laptop straight to the mixer through a single USB port and take control of things like digital vinyl systems. In keeping with the lineage of Pioneer mixers, the DJM-900nexus is heavily-focused on FX. Sound Color FX include the standard Filter and Crush and will now be joined by Noise from the DJM-2000, a new reverb, Dub Echo and a gate/compressor. In terms of time-based FX, the DJM-900nexus can be connected to Pro Link compatible CDJs (the -2000 and -900), enabling it to grab quantize information and keep FX in time regardless of tempo fluctuations. The new X-Pad arrives in addition to the Beat Buttons to give users more control options when switching up the rhythm patterns of things like Trans, Echo and Roll. You also get twin LFOs, which are designed to put a spin on controlling FX like Filter, Flanger and Phaser. For a full run-down of what the DJM-900nexus is packing, including its myriad FX options, James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli break it down in this 15-minute introductory video.
The Pioneer DJM-900nexus will be available late March 2011 with a suggested retail price of €1,899/£1599.
