- The disco maestro's first album drops this May on Spectral Sound.
The first artist album by Mark E is called Stone Breaker, and will see release this May through Spectral Sound.
Mark E is probably best known for his distinct style of disco edits, such as his enduring rework of Janet Jackson's "R&B Drunkie." But as he says in a recent interview with FACT, the new album is all about completely original production, with hardly any use of sampling at all. "I'm very focused on leaving edits behind." The record will be his first on Spectral Sound, though last year he appeared on its sister label, Ghostly International, with a remix of Matthew Dear's "Little People (Black City)." All of the songs on Stone Breaker are previously unreleased.
If you're anywhere near Mark E's hometown of Birmingham, you can catch him DJing later this month at the Hare and Hound. Fittingly, Matthew Dear will play live at the event as well. Tickets to that one are available here on RA.
