Jamie Woon will release his debut LP mirrorwriting on April 11 via Candent Songs.

The English singer is no stranger to bass music, having burst onto the scene in 2007 with his version of "Wayfaring Stranger," remixed by Burial to great acclaim. Three years alter, he released Night Air, which was co-produced by Burial and given a house re-rub by Ramadanman. That one garnered playlist spots on BBC Radio 1 and ended up rocketing Woon into the BBC Sound of 2011 poll.

His mostly self-produced debut album was three years in the making, and evidently explores classic soul and blues as much as UK bass music. With a total of 12 tracks (including “Night Air,”), the album promises to be chock full of Woon's hushed, sample-heavy percussion and layered vocals. If the track "Blue Truth" (which Woon recently gave away) is any indication, the album should continue with his trademark mixture of warm vocals with intricate beats.

Tracklist
01. Night Air
02. Street
03. Lady Luck
04. Shoulda
05. Middle
06. Spirits
07. Echoes
08. Spiral
09. TMRW
10. Secondbreath
11. Gravity
12. Waterfront

Candent Songs will release mirrorwriting on April 11th, 2011.

Tue, 26 Apr 2011I agree with others in that the album does tail off towards the end in terms of quality but it is worth a purchase just for the first half alone. Night Air still sends a tingle up my spine no matter how many times I listen to it.....

Here's hoping Jamie's next longplayer retains the same feel but has more quality control...

Fri, 22 Apr 2011So my dear friends, I like several of you had very high expectations on this album but in the end I was a complete disappointment, a promising forward with 'Night Air' which was the mistake of Woon, edit as a preamble to the LP, as though they have been subsequently released as a single would not have saved from a bad LP, finally a shame for Jamie.

Uncoolcriticwrote
Fri, 22 Apr 2011Oh so agree with Andrew Ryce's review. Is this a great album? No. Is it worth listening to? Yes. The important thing to remember is who is behind the scene producing the music. Personally I look forward to bringing the ever so talented forward thinking Burial, Subeena and Ramadanman into the mainstream. It is with this that we make room for the next generation of great producers.
