  • Sydney club night Shrug will be hosting appearances from Max Cooper and Kollektiv Turmstrasse over the coming weeks. Englishman Max Cooper has been aligned with Germany's Traum imprint for much of his career. Based in London, the producer has been releasing upfront and highly musical techno for almost five years. Stylistically, his sound is rooted in a brand of peak-time 4/4, and often draws upon extensive sampling. The Kollektiv Turmstrasse duo, on the other hand, specialise in deep house. With the release of their second album since joining forces in the early '00s, Rebellion Der Traeumer, earlier this year, the pair further solidified their affiliation with leftfield deep house, demonstrating a knack for placing rolling basslines amongst more experimental textures in the LP format. In DJ mode, the Hamburg-based artists are usually more traditional than their recent full-length may suggest, so you can likely expect plenty of groove-based house and techno from them when they spin in Sydney. Max Cooper will be the first of the two acts to take control of the Shrug stage, stopping into the night's first appearance at Good God Small Club on April 9th. Kollektiv Turmstrasse will then arrive for a date a few weeks later, which will be taking place at Tone on May 14th. Tickets to both the Good God Small Club and Tone gigs are available from RA Tickets.
